Chilliwack’s U-12 United Select soccer girls edged Pitt Meadows 3-2 Saturday.
Playing in soggy conditions, the locals dominated the first half and opened the scoring on a strike by Grace MacIsaac. Grace Vandenbrink doubled the lead soon after. Chilliwack kept the pressure up, with Kennedy Galley, Sydney Dombowsky, Deanna Tuchscherer and Abigail Vandop buzzing around the Pitt Meadows net.
Chilliwack keeper Kassidy Nienhuis made some solid stops at the other end, but Pitt Meadows stormed back, putting two behind her to draw even in the second half.
The Chilliwack backline of Amber Feaver, Kalista Kirkness, Madison Steele and Katie Lampen tightened up from there, setting the stage for the winning goal.
With just five seconds left on the clock, Miranda Coombes secured victory with a beautiful strike.
