The Coquitam Redlegs scored the game’s only run in the top of the sixth inning as they tripped up the Langley Junior Blaze 1-0.
The two U16 baseball teams played on July 25 at McLeod Athletic Park and the loss ended Langley’s five-game winning streak.
The loss prevented Langley from clinching top spot in the B.C. Junior Premier Baseball League. The Blaze (32-8) still lead by three and a half games and have four games to go in the regular season.
Coquitlam’s Cameron Williams scored Cole Dowling with a sixth-inning single.
Langley’s Mitchell Kennedy was tagged with the loss, throwing a complete game five-hitter with seven strikeouts.
The Blaze face the White Rock Junior Tritons (20-15) on July 29 at South Surrey Athletic Park for a doubleheader and then play the Whalley Junior Chiefs (17-21) in Whalley on July 30.
Langley closes the regular season at home on Aug. 2 against the second-place North Shore Junior Twins (24-7).
