Vernon’s Jim Cotter has missed the playoffs at the $100,000 GP Car and Home World Cup of Curling in Sault Ste Marie, Ont.
Cotter finished the preliminary round at 1-4 after his rink bowed 6-2 to Winnipeg’s Jeff Stoughton Friday afternoon.
After dropping their opening three games, the Cotter rink – third Kevin Folk, second Tyrel Griffith and lead Rick Sawatsky – rebounded with a 6-5 win over Toronto’s Mark Kean Friday afternoon.
In Saturday’s quarterfinals, Stoughton met Sweden’s Niklas Edin, Coldwater Ont.’s Glenn Howard faced Winnipeg’s Mike McEwen, Newfoundland’s Brad Gushue tangled with Toronto’s John Epping and Kevin Martin and Kevin Koe met in an all-Edmonton battle.
The final goes today.
