The minor hockey season is underway in the Comox Valley, and the Courtenay Mazda PeeWee Chiefs are off to a great start.
The Chiefs are 2-0-1 through three league games in Division 2 of the Island League, with convincing wins over Sooke and Nanaimo and a hard-fought tie with the Victoria Ice Hawks. Combining solid defensive zone play with excellent goaltending and timely scoring, the Chiefs are on their way to a great regular season.
This weekend, the Chiefs are hosting an eight-team tournament with teams from Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland arriving in the Valley on Friday afternoon. The Chiefs’ first game is Friday at 5:15 at the Glacier Gardens arena with two more round-robin games on Saturday, at 6:30 a.m. (Sports Centre) and 1:15 p.m. (Glacier Gardens).
Playoff games will be held Sunday at Glacier Gardens arena and the Chiefs hope to be in the final of what will be a very competitive tournament. Come on out and cheer on your local PeeWee Rep team.
The Chiefs thank Courtenay Mazda for sponsoring our team again this year as well as all those families and businesses that are supporting our fundraising efforts.
