Jackson Alexeev has become the first member of the 2020-21 Cowichan Valley Capitals to sign on with a college team.
Alexeev, who played his 20-year-old season with the Caps, has committed to Div. III Hobart College in Geneva, New York for the upcoming season.
“I’m excited to announce my commitment to Hobart College,” Alexeev said. “Thanks to everyone at the Cowichan Valley Capitals and the BCHL, my past coaches, teachers and to my parents for helping me reach this goal. I look forward to furthering my education and hockey career at Hobart. Go Statesmen!”
One of three 20-year-olds on the team this past season, Alexeev finished fourth on the Caps in points with nine (three goals and six assists) while playing 15 games. Prior to joining the Caps, he played three seasons with the Toronto Patriots of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, posting 96 points in 132 regular-season games and 15 points in 29 playoff contests.
“We are happy to see Jackson join a good program like Hobart,” said Caps head coach and general manager Brian Passmore. “Jackson is a dynamic player and will have success at school.”
