Cowichan Capitals shut down by Powell River

Kings goalie Adamyk blanks Caps for second time this season

The Cowichan Valley Capitals were shut down at home by goalie Mitch Adamyk and the Powell River Kings on Tuesday night, falling 4-0 to their B.C. Hockey League Island Division rivals at the Island Savings Centre.

Mitch Adamyk made 30 saves for his second shutout win over the Caps this season. The Kings scored twice in the first period and twice in the third. Blake Wood stopped 27 of 31 shots in the Cowichan net.

Three of Powell River’s four goals came on the powerplay as the Kings went 3-for-6 with the man advantage, including a pair of goals during an extended powerplay late in the third period.

The Caps visit the Victoria Grizzlies at the Q Centre this Friday, then play host to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs on Saturday, beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday’s match is a big one for the Caps, who are currently tied with the Bulldogs for fourth in the Island Division.
