Cowichan Typhoons top Fernandes tourney

Cowichan's own Typhoons finished atop the standings at the annual Malcolm Fernandes U18 Indoor Field Hockey Tournament in late January.

Cowichan’s own Typhoons finished atop the standings at the annual Malcolm Fernandes U18 Indoor Field Hockey Tournament in late January.

The Typhoons finished first out of seven teams in the tournament, while the Cowichan development team, the Tsunamis, finished an impressive fourth overall.

Rounding out the standings were Wave 1 and Wave 2 from Victoria in second and third, Alberta in fifth, and two Mainland teams, the Hawkes and Polar Bears, in sixth and seventh.

The Typhoons also boasted the tournament’s top two individual scorers, as Birkley Anderson notched 12 goals and Chloe Langkammer added 11. Jayden Novak tied for seventh overall with four goals.
