The Eaglecrest Ladies’ Golf Club season got off to a cool start with a cold wind, a grey sky and the temperature in the single digits.
“But at least it didn’t rain,” reports ELGC’s Elizabeth Marsland, adding most teams in this alternate-shot scramble reported that their golf matched the weather, “except perhaps the winners, Kathy Hiebert, Myrt McGraw and June Sadgrove.”
Fortunately the sun was in evidence for the first Pin Round of the season (where players can start to accumulate points for a season-end Royal Canadian Golf Association pin). The overall winner, with a net score of 73, was Irene Creally. The winners of the three divisions (which are based on handicap groupings) were, respectively, Diane Johnston, Dale Marshall and Sandra Braithwaite.
The highlight of the new year for the Ladies Club will undoubtedly be the 25th Eaglecrest Ladies Amateur, an open tournament scheduled for Friday July 15.
