Crescent Beach Triathlon draws crowd

More than 50 athletes took part in Sunday's revamped Crescent Beach Triathlon in South Surrey.

For the first time since 2007, the Crescent Beach Triathlon returned to South Surrey, drawing more than 50 participants on Sunday morning.

The once-popular event – which had run for more than two decades prior to its cancellation in ’07 – returned this year as a something of a “do-it-yourself training exercise” rather than an official, sanctioned event because organizers balked at a number of conditions, including a large price tag, imposed by the City of Surrey.

Next year, organizers hope to put on an official meet.
