Cross country results

More than 350 elementary school students played hookey last Thursday and made their way to 10 Mile Lake Provincial Park for the annual School District 28 cross country running meet.

At the end of the day the prize for top school went to Dragon Lake Elementary finishing with a total of 189 points on the day.

Red Bluff Lhatko and Lakeview elementary schools came in second and third respectively, with 121 and 110 points respectively.

Dragon Lake earned first place largely on the showing of their senior boys and girls teams that collected 70 and 68 points respectively.

Lakeview earned second place largely on the results of their junior boys and girls teams who collected 56 and 65 points, respectively.

Individually, Jacee Gunderson of Narcosli Creek elementary school took top spot among eight-year-old girls and Diego Ferreira of Lakeview elementary finished ahead of the pack on the boys side.

In the nine-year-old division, Aleesha Bautista of Dragon Lake elementary and Daniel Denison of Red Bluff elementary took top honours on the girls and boys side, respectively.

Sarah Jarvis of Dragon Lake finished first among 10-year-old girls and Darby Madill of Carson Elementary was first on the boys side.

Bouchie Lake elementary school’s Grace McTaggert won the 11-year-old girl competition and Dane Jacobson of Lakeview elementary finished ahead of the pack on the boys side.

Kyra Teetzen of École Baker and Dylan Cathcart of Lakeview elementary school took first place in the 12-year-old division on the girls and boys side, respectively.

Brea Woods stepped up for Parkland elementary and took top spot in the 13-year-old girls race and Jared Martel of Red Bluff elementary finished first on the boys side of the event.
