If you’ve ever wanted to give cross country skiing a try there’s no better time than this Saturday, Jan. 19.
The Williams Lake Cross Country Ski Club has partnered with the First Nations Health Authority and Caribou Ski Source for Sports to host a free day of skiing at Bull Mountain Ski Area.
Trail fees, equipment and beginner coaching are all free, while snowshoes will also be available for those wishing to explore the area’s snowshoeing trails.
Billed a ‘Wellness Day at Bull Mountain: Family Fun in the Snow,’ participants can take advantage of free instruction from experienced skiers, along with a free chili and bannock lunch, hot chocolate and coffee.

“It’s fantastic right now. All the trails have been groomed and set and it looks pretty nice,” said lead groomer Scott Gordon. “It was a little bit icy because of the warm weather but hopefully we can get a little bit of snow and it’ll be really nice.”
Bull Mountain officially opened on Jan. 1, including its dog-friendly trails and snowshoeing trails.
The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bull Mountain, located just 15 minutes north of Williams Lake off Highway 97.
