The Quesnel Crossfire lost their first home game of the season 14-5 to the Prince George Bandits on Tuesday (May 7) night.
While they may have quintupled their offensive output since their 16-1 season-opening loss the Prince George Devils, it will be little consolation to a squad who were really starting to contend by the end of their 2018 season.
Hunter McSeveney, Dusty Cathcart, Dyson LeNeve and Brody Lawlor scored for the home team, who were never able to close the gap enough against a pesky Bandits team who have consistently given them trouble in the past
The diminutive-yet-deadly Drew Doig scored three goals and added seven assists for the Bandits, who are now 2-0 for the young season.
The Crossfire will play the Prince George Assault, who are also winless (0-1) on Thursday (May 9).
The president of the Quesnel Lacrosse Association, Lisa Scott, says it’s still early in the season for the Crossfire.
“The team is still a bit rusty,” she said. “A few more games, and we will be right back in it.”
