Clearwater Secondary School boys soccer lost to St. Ann’s 3-0 during a game at the school on Oct. 13 but that did not dismay coach Gabe Francis.

“The season has been great,” he said. “We are a very inexperienced team; we did not field a boys’ soccer team last year, so many of our boys are playing together for the first time.”

Two international students, Gian Fedele and Taku Hotta, are playing with the team this season. Francis described them as both being very skilled and noted that soccer has been a great way for them to connect with many of their peers.

“The local boys playing are all prepared to outwork other teams; the skill and knowledge will come if they stick with it,” the coach said.

“We have had great goaltending and solid defence throughout the season,” he added. “With only two Grade 12’s on the team, we have a strong young core that should progress well in coming seasons.” The soccer Raiders finished the regular season with three wins and three losses.

The CSS team hosted Vernon Christian School on Monday. The winner of that match earned a berth in the Okanagans. Look for the outcome in a future issue of the Times.
