In partnership with the Village of Cumberland, Cumberland Community Schools Society and United Riders of Cumberland, residents have been planning and fundraising since 2012 to build a community Skate Park and Jump Park.
In July 2017, their hard work was realized with the official opening and ribbon cutting of the new park. Now, it is time to say thanks to the community and celebrate!
On Wednesday, Sept. 20 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., local community groups and businesses will come together to throw a party to celebrate the community’s efforts and the success of the Jump Park and Skate Park Project. The celebration will include a DJ, and bike and board demos from Dodge City Cycles, Beaufort Cycles and One Thirty Three.
“This project would not have been possible without the efforts of countless community members,” said Village of Cumberland manager of recreation Leah Knutson. “It is great to see so many people already enjoying these new facilities.”
The Get On Board Crew will be skating and giving out pointers, pro and semi-pro riders will be tearing up the jumps and ripping up the bowl. The United Riders of Cumberland has teamed up with Cumberland Community School PAC to host a fundraising BBQ that is sure to leave your mouth watering for more!
Gravity Mtn Biking, the Village of Cumberland Recreation and the Cumberland Community School Society will be on hand to give out information on upcoming programs, including Gravity’s Jump and Pump Camps and a new after-school Skate Program hosted by Get on Board instructors.
Get on Board will also be selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a Landyatz skateboard. All of the proceeds will go to help fund the after school Skate Program, which starts in October.
