Cyclocross is making another rerun in Qualicum

Cyclocross is pedalling its way back to Qualicum Beach at the end of this month.

Cyclocross is pedalling its way back to Qualicum Beach at the end of this month.

The Cross on the Commons, which made its debut last year, will be held Sept. 30 in Qualicum Beach near the civic centre.

“Being earlier this year, the race may not have as much mud as previously but there will still be lots of grass and sand, tight turns, single track and the BMX track,” said race director, Roy Kregosky. “We expect the racers to number around 350 including kids on run bikes, beginners on pretty much any bike and intermediate and expert riders on full-blown cyclocross bikes.”

As in the previous year, the race is part of an eight race series called Cross On The Rock.

The public is welcome to participate or just spectate and cheer the racers on.
