Darts tournament brings players from as far as Grand Prairie

Men's single division renamed Frank Thomas Memorial

The Kitimat Open Dart tournament was a special event this year – the men’s single division was renamed in honour of late Kitimat darts player Frank Thomas.

The Frank Thomas Memorial was just one of the divisions at the three-day event, which was held in the Royal Canadian Legion hall.

Organized by Laura Jankauskas, Sharole Bell and Andy Towse, with catering provided during the tournament by volunteers from the Kitimat Humane Society, players came from as far as Grande Prairie for the tournament.

The results for the tournament are as follows:

Allister and Paulin Boyd Memorial mixed doubles winners – Andy and Maria Towse.

Frank Thomas Memorial men’s singles – Shane Wadden, first, Mark Meima, second and Donnie Wickens, third.

Men’s doubles – Shane Wadden and Mark Meima, first, Andy Towse and Johny Parsons, second, Riley Hall and Ray Holahan, third.

Ladies singles – Yolanda Caton, first, Laura Jankauskas, second and Carolyn Castle, third.

Ladies doubles – Shelly Holstein and Carol Schaeffer, first, Laura Bell-Jankauskas and Barb Thomas, second, Sharole Bell and Heather Sweet, third and Maria Towse and Tanya Allen, fourth.

The team trio – Andy and Maria Towse, and Reena Hummel, first, Scott Pritchard, Yolande Caton and Carolyn Castle, second, and tied third were Steven Jankauskas, Marg and John Bogart and Laura Jankauskas, Shane Wadden and Mark Meima.
