Nearly 700 swimmers descended on Sungod Recreation Centre this weekend to compete in the 41st Annual Sunfish A-B Invitational Swim Meet.
Hosted by the North Delta Sunfish Swim and WaterPolo Club, the two-day meet July 30-31 welcomed 19 participating clubs and 683 swimmers from throughout B.C.
“We had a tremendous turnout,” said Francis van Roode, vice-president, North Delta Sunfish. “The Sunfish meet is the last regular swim meet before regional and provincial competitions in August.”
Added Mark Furneaux, the club’s president: “Home meets are without a doubt my favourite meets of the year. The kids do their best work in their home pool and we always look forward to being a gracious host to our visiting teams.”
