SEAPARC will reopen DeMamiel Creek golf course on July 5.

And it will start off with a community celebration.

A free barbecue is planned for noon on July 5 at the golf course, located at 6518 Throup Rd.

The DeMamiel Creek golf course is a nine-hole executive par 3 course designed for all skill levels. Those interested in golfing need to book and pay for tee times by phoning 250-642-8000 or visiting SEAPAREC Leisure Complex at 2168 Phillips Rd.

The golf course is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. It will close on Sept. 30.

Administration of the golf course will be handled by SEAPARC staff. The course will have a host at the coure and a contracted groundskeeper.

“It’s a community-level course, where you can get out with your friends and family and enjoy a game of golf,” said Steve Knoke, SEAPARC manager.

Earlier this year, Sooke and Juan de Fuca Electoral Area residents voted overwhelming in favour of buying the golf course land for the future development and enhancement of recreation services in the region.
