A weekend loss against the Delta Ice Hawks bumped the North Delta Devils to the bottom of the Tom Shaw Conference of the Pacific International Junior Hockey League.
The Devils were defeated 3-2 Saturday at Sungod Arena, leaving the team with a 4-4-0 (won-lost-tied) record. Their eight points puts them at the bottom of the five-team conference, although North Delta has played fewer games.
The Hawks outshot by Devils 55-25, but North Delta was spared a more painful loss by the efforts of goalie Harry Fredeman, who made 52 saves.
Jacob Wensley got both of the Devils’ goals, the first 12 minutes in off a pass from Kody Botterill, and the second in period two, assisted by Matthew Denton.
The Devils play Aldergrove an away game Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. at the Aldergrove Community Arena, and face the Tom Shaw Conference-leading Richmond Sockeyes at home Saturday. Game time is 6:45 p.m. at the Sungod Arena.
