All facets of the game were working for the Nanaimo Diamonds at their home tournament on the weekend.
The Ramsay Lampman Rhodes/Harbour City Plumbing and Gas ’95 Diamonds bantam B fastball team went undefeated to win the tourney at Beban Park’s Gyro Youth Sports Fields.
The Diamonds punctuated the weekend with a 10-2 win over Langford in the championship game. Pitcher Hayley Craddock recorded 10 strikeouts – including seven consecutive Ks at one point – and Sam Walkosky homered.
Earlier in the tourney, the girls beat Strawberry Vale 11-2, got past the ’96 Diamonds 4-2, shut out Langford 11-0, crushed the Strawberries 12-1 and trounced Langford 12-1.
The bantam B Diamonds are preparing for provincial championships, which will be held July 22-24 in North Delta.
