John Leach
March Meadows Senior Men
A cool cloudy morning greeted the beginning of the March Meadows Senior Men’s match play tournament.
Over the next month, the original thirty-two qualifiers will battle it out for the trophy.
The day’s round also saw the first eagle scored this season by one of our players.
Dick Orman made a 155 yard third shot to the green on Number Nine, and put the ball in the cup to make the eagle. He deserved his day of bragging rights.
Other ball winners included Roy Lavigne and Jim Peterson, with chip-in pars, and Rick Nott with a birdie.
Closest to the pin went to Rick Nott on number one and Dave Melnick on number seven.
Three players scored sandy pars, including John McCormick, Jerry Janzen and Clark Ferguson.
Earl Laforge had the low gross and Bob Leach the the low net.
Jack Ringheim knew the slogan (Play hard, play fair, and have fun).
The five-and-a-half barrel continues its policy of denial, and the prize pot continues to grow.
If you call on God to improve the results of a shot while it is still in motion, you are using “an outside agency” and subject to appropriate penalties under the rules of golf.
