Maple Ridge’s Anthony DiNicolo and the Simon Fraser Clan men’s soccer team earned a trio of wins in their recent tour of the Hawaiian Islands.
The Clan capped the three-game trip with a decisive 4-0 win over the University of Hawaii-Hilo on Monday.
SFU was in control of the game from start to finish as the Clan outshot UHH by a tally of 23-7 while getting more shots on goal, a total of 11-6.
DiNicolo, a defenceman, registered an assist in the win, as SFU improves to a perfect 11-0 this season, including a 5-0 record in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play .
The team’s success on the trip helped earn the Clan a No. 2 national ranking in the NCAA Division II.
Previously on the trip, the SFU Clan beat Hawaii Pacific 5-1 on Saturday after registering a 4-1 win over Brigham Young University-Hawaii on Oct. 5.
SFU will now head home after their successful trip to Hawaii. The Clan return action at Terry Fox Field on Oct. 20 when they host the University of Northwest Nazarene. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
