Last week in the Comox Valley Men’s Baseball League the undefeated Happy’s Source for Sports Reds went up against the Investors Group Dodgers in the Tuesday night game.

The game was dominated by the Dodgers’ pitching from the first inning. Dane Peterson twirled three scoreless innings for the Dodgers with his only blemish being a single to Dallas McDonald. Dan Parker had a strong game pitching and caught a good game behind the plate for the Reds, but the Reds’ offence just wasn’t enough as the Dodgers’ pitching staff – Josh Hollinger, Evan Murray and Jason Cameron shut the door on the Happy’s crew for the rest of the game to secure a 7-2 victory.

In the Thursday night game the Lund/Thorburn CGA Athletics erased a 5-1 deficit to come back and beat the Dodgers 10-6. The Dodgers scored runs early in the game, led by Jordan Barnes who went 2-2 at the plate with two walks and Ryan Tufnail who reached base in every at-bat.

Peterson threw three innings for the Dodgers, giving up only one run while striking out five. But the Dodgers’ pitching staff couldn’t keep the A’s bats quiet all night. The A’s bats tore apart the Dodgers’ pitching staff in the later innings, led by Brad Aitken who had a home run and a long double and Dave Kines who went 2-2 at the plate with two walks.

The A’s closer Josh Clare came in and shut the door on the Dodgers in the final two innings to preserve the win.
