Abbotsford’s Justin Douglas will again be wearing red and white as Canada’s rugby sevens squad plays the first leg of the 2014-15 IRB Men’s Sevens World Series this weekend on the Gold Coast of Australia.
Douglas, 20, made his debut with the Canadian men’s sevens team at the same event in October of 2012. The Bateman Secondary grad currently lives in Victoria, where he trains with Team Canada’s centralized roster.
Canada is pooled with Argentina, England and USA in what is a tough group. After Australia, the teams will have an eight-week break before back-to-back legs in Dubai and South Africa, which will close their 2014 Sevens action.
“We are really keen to start this competition on the right foot, building on the growth we have done to date,” said interim coach Ben Herring.
