Douma delivers

Turn-Key Controls had no subs but managed to steal a 2-1 win over Revelstoke Stallions in North Okanagan Soccer League play Wednesday night in Salmon Arm.

Keeper Gregg Douma, named Nolan’s Pharmasave Man of the Match, was marvellous as he stymied Revelstoke on multiple scoring chances.

Douma also set up the opening goal, sending a gorgeous ball over the top to Preston Tucker who headed it over the keeper to give Turn-Key the early lead.

Just before the half, Revelstoke (5-6) put on some pressure and had a cross deflected in by a striker.

Turn-Key began fading in the heat and Revelstoke enjoyed a second-half advantage with no success.

In the last 10 minutes, Turn-Key (6-4-1) started to create chances and gained a corner. Andrew Pool played the ball onto the penalty spot and Revelstoke won the header straight to Turn-Key’s Evan Moore at the top of the 18. Moore made a move and nailed a left footer, bottom corner, for the win.

North Enderby Timber ambushed the Salmon Arm Outlaws 7-0 on a much improved Marshall Field pitch.

Brent Poulsen opened the scoring in the 10th minute, besting a defender in close before beating the keeper.

Poulsen added an identical tally five minutes later after some hard work from Simplyfrugal.ca Man of the Match Evan Frederick.

Frederick then scored a deuce on identical breakaways, fooling the keeper five-hole.

Mike Bennett capped off the first half scoring with a well executed PK after he earned the foul being taken down from behind in the 18.

Patrick Schindler and Finlay McPhie supplied second-half goals. Honorable mention went to Victor Gouchee, who earned the first-half shutout and then turned striker for the final 45, leading all players in shots on target with 10.

NOD Eagle Homes shut down Peters Tirecraft 5-0 in the Shuswap.

NOD (4-6-1) took the lead midway through the first half and scored three goals in a 15-minute span while Tirecraft was unable to get any of their shots on net.

The second half was tightly contested with Eagle Homes burying two PKs and both teams trading chances. Riley Strothers moved to the back line for the shorthanded Tirecraft (1-7-1) and played his best game of the season for the Okanagan Training Rink Man of the Match honours.
