To celebrate Safe Boating Awareness week, May 20 to 26, the Penticton Dragon Boat Festival announced the purchase of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
The AED was purchased with money raised at a fundraiser at the Barking Parrott. The generosity of Roger and Deb Henning, at Action First Aid, allowed the purchase of two AED’s. The equipment was unveiled at Skaha Lake on May 24 with Penticton Mayor Andrew Jakubeit and members of the Penticton Dragon Boat Club. The club is appreciative of the support from the city, its staff, Penticton Lakeside Resort general manager David Prystay as well as the Hennings.
The Penticton Dragon Boat Festival, held the second week of September for the past 17 years, attracts more than 2,500 participants from out of town.
