Drive one for the soccer association

New Sunrise Ford principal dealer helping local soccer association

The 100 Mile House & District Soccer Association (OHMSA) and Sunrise Ford have a new way to drive the donations up for the soccer club.

Ford is paying people to drive a car, truck or SUV for five minutes and will donate all the “earnings” to OHMSA. This one-day event is on June 18 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“It’s going to be crazy busy down there,” says OHMSA president Jennifer Appleby.

“There are soccer games on from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. We are having a garage sale starting at 9 a.m. and a bottle drive, too.”

New Sunrise Ford owner Leon Chretien came to OHMSA and suggested this fundraiser, says Appleby. Ford of Canada has two programs: Drive One 4 UR schools; and Drive One 4 UR communities, which they started this year.

“Leon is really into soccer and he came to us with this, which I think is pretty awesome.”

For each test drive, Ford of Canada combined with Sunrise Ford, pay $25 for one driver (with a valid driver’s licence) per civic address per test drive.

No one will try to sell to you and no one will call you later, Chretien says, adding this is to raise funds for the children and raising our community involvement.

Says Appleby: “We could potentially raise $7,500. I’m inviting everyone down.”

The soccer fields are on the corner of Evergreen and North Birch Avenue behind Save-on-Foods, she adds.

“It’ll be crazy, but fun. People are welcome to come down for the garage sale and bring down their bottles for our drive in the morning, and then either stay or come back later for the test drive.”
