It was a beautiful day for the beautiful game on the Kwalikum Secondary School soccer field as the Shady Rest Eagles and Oak Bay Old Boys battled it out for the Manly Cup.

Both teams were ready for the challenges ahead, both on the field against one another and from the hot weather conditions as well, as the 30th installment of the Manly Cup played out on the pitch at KSS.

In the end, it was the Eagles earning the 2-1 victory as they came from behind to capture the Manly Cup.

Oak Bay took the lead in the first half, setting the stage for an Eagles comeback in the second half.

Dave Flooker tied the game 1-1 when he put home a deflected shot by Keith Watson, who made a great run to set up the scoring chance for the Eagles.

Not long after, Watson was at it again, this time setting up Stuart Gray with a through ball that Gray took possession of and promptly struck a looping shot into the far corner behind the Old Boys keeper.

The Eagles were under pressure for the remainder of the game but they managed to hold on for the win.

Shady Rest Eagles keeper, Ian Miller, was voted the Man of the Match.
