A pair of Mennonite Educational Institute volleyball players found success on the beach this summer.
On the weekend of Aug. 11-12, Eagles junior teammates Kaden Gamache and Jared Reid won medals in the under-14 division at the B.C. provincial championships at Lacarno Beach in Vancouver.
Gamache and his partner Zec Johnson of Langley Fundamental won gold, knocking off Reid and Jon Macadam of Langley Christian in straight sets in the final (21-17, 21-7). All four boys play together with the Fraser Valley Volleyball Club.
Gamache and Johnson advanced to the national championships, held at Vancouver’s Spanish Banks last weekend, and they won a silver medal.
