EFC U13s shine in Futsal

European FC ( EFC) of Vernon and Kelowna Soccaskool resumed their soccer rivalry last weekend.

European FC (EFC) of Vernon and Kelowna Soccaskool resumed their soccer rivalry last weekend but this time it was on a court playing the fast-paced version of the game called Futsal.

Soccaskool teams once again dominated their northern neighbour in the younger age groups but it was in the older groups where European FC held their own by sharing the spoils in the U12 group and winning the much anticipated U13 tilt.

“The U13 boys were simply brilliant,” said EFC director Ian Murphy.

The U13s were led by some excellent goalkeeping by Mac Sorochuk, who frustrated the Soccaskool offence time after time allowing Ethan Anderson to round off a great team performance and give EFC the win with a well deserved goal.

Said Andy Stevens of Soccaskool: “The games played between Soccaskool and European FC were a true testament to the quality of players we have in the Okanagan and by incorporating Futsal into the player’s repertoire only makes them better soccer players. We look forward to making this a monthly winter event.”

In addition to these high-level Futsal matches, European FC runs a fall and winter Futsal program that is open to all abilities and all ages. For more information on Futsal or European FC, contact peter@efcokanagan.com or visit their web site at www.efcokanagan.com.
