On Sunday, November 6, the Nakusp Falcons faced off against the Castlegar Rebels. Eleven of the hockey players had just returned to the ice from a weeklong provincial soccer tournament in Kamloops.
Castlegar opened the scoring just two minutes into the first period, but Nakusp battled back and Jacob Balske found the back of the net to tie the game near the end of the first. Assists on Balske’s goal went to Ryan Bateman and Damin Devlin.
Castlegar managed to get the go-ahead goal during the second period but Balske tied it up 2-2, with his second of the game, assisted by Bateman. It looked as though the game would end in a tie, but Castlegar got one more goal late in the third, and then an empty netter near the buzzer. The Falcon’s will now be attending tournaments in Chase, Kelowna and Penticton.
Their next home games are scheduled for Saturday, December 17 at 1:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 18 at 10:00 a.m. against Grandforks.
