The Falcons dropped both games of their doubleheader with the Cowlitz Black Bears Saturday night at Elks Stadium, getting outscored 19-2 in West Coast League action.

In game one, the Falcons jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first after Kevin Biro’s fifth RBI on the season.  Unfortunately that was the only run the offense could tally against Bears’ starter Sam Moreland in six innings.  He struck out seven scattering five hits in an 8-1 victory.

Lincoln Hanredeen suffered his second loss of the season lasting just 2.1 innings.  He allowed four hits, two earned runs and two strikeouts.

Jeff Nelson (Pierce College) collected two hits in his Falcons debut.

Then in the night cap the Bears pick up where they left off scoring six times in the first two innings.  Alex Emerson made his Falcons debut on the mound and was chased after just one inning, walking four.

The Black Bears took advantage of 10 walks and a hit batter issued by four Falcons pitchers winning 11-1.

Again the offense was frustrated recording only five hits.  For the second straight game Biro tallied the only RBI with a double in the second inning.

On Sunday, Father’s Day, the Falcons will look to salvage a game in this series as Jeremy Newton (1-0) gets the start.  First pitch is scheduled for 6:05pm at Elks Stadium.  Dads get in for half price.
