After a disappointing start to the road trip the Kelowna Falcons played their Canadian card and blasted the Bend Elks 15-8 in the series finale on Canada Day in Bend.
Both teams wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as the Falcons would open the scoring in the top of the first with an RBI single from Stetson Olson to score Darren Kolk.
The lead was short lived however as the Elks would storm back with four runs in the bottom of the first off Falcons’ starter Nolan Savage.
In the top of the second the Falcons exploded for six runs batting through the order. Jeffrey Bohling, Kolk, Grayson Porter (2) and Cody Andreychuk (2) each recorded RBI hits in the inning.
In the third the Falcons would add another as Joe Robbins collected his 12th RBI of the season to bring home Tyler Pentland.
Savage would settle down and not give up another run until both teams scored in the fifth. The Falcons getting an unearned run as Bohling would score one of his three runs on the evening.
Then in the seventh the Falcons would tack on another six runs as both Porter and Chandler Tracy would hit back to back two run doubles. Andreychuk also doubled home Tracy in the inning that saw 10 men come to the plate.
Robbins, Porter and Tracy would lead the 17 hit outpouring on Monday night. Robbins finishing 4-6 with an RBI and two runs scored. Porter was 3-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored, while Tracy also finished 3-5 but with two RBIs and a run scored. Bohling scored three times, collected two hits and an RBI, while Andreychuk recorded three RBIs on two hits.
Savage (3-1) lasted 6.1 innings allowing four runs or seven hits and struck out three, but walked eight in his third win of the season.
The Falcons will stay on the road and head to Cowlitz County in Washington for a date with the Black Bears beginning on Tuesday evening. Marc-Andre Habeck (1-2) will get the start for the Falcons
