How do you spell relief ?
In the case of the Kelowna Falcons, it’s back-to-back wins after opening the West Coast League season at 0-8.
Geoff White’s club rebounded from a winless start with a 13-6 victory over the Victoria Harbourcats on Monday night at Elks Stadium.
Then on Tuesday, Kelowna made it two victories in a row with a 4-3 victory over the visiting Klamath Falls Gems.
The Falcons, who had been gripping the bats a little tight, broke out offensively with 27 hits over the two games.
“It was good feeling to get those first two wins,” said White, the Falcons’ head coach. “Definitely the boys were able to relax significantly and have a little fun out there. They were frustrated and maybe pressing a little too much, so these were big wins for us.”
It was also the first time this season the Falcons were able to put all aspects of their game together on the game night.
“We had great starting pitching, timely hitting and the guys made a lot of nice defensive plays,” added White. “When put all those together you’re going to win some games.”
After Wednesday’s game was rained out, the Falcons were scheduled to face the Gems in a doubleheader Thursday night, before heading to Bellingham Friday to start a three-game weekend series with the Bells.
Kelowna will return home Monday for the start of a three-game series vs Walla Walla.
