The Ridge Meadows Royals carried their hot pre-season play into the bantam double A baseball regular season with three straight wins to start the schedule, scoring 30 runs while allowing just two.
The Royals got the season started right last Wednesday, winning the opener 6-1 over the Vancouver Vipers at Hammond Stadium.
Darian Guemos got the start for the Royals and was dominant, needing only 69 pitches to complete six innings. He allowed only two hits and no earned runs while striking out seven to pick up the win.
Nick Baust pitched the seventh and struck out the side to finish the game.
Offensively, the Royals were led by clean-up hitter Derek Livesey.
First, he capped off a three-run first inning with a two-run double to right-centre. Later in the game, he hit another RBI double over the left fielder to finish 2-3 with 3 RBI.
The Royals followed that up with a Saturday win over the Vancouver Expos, 13-1, and an 11-0 drubbing of the Ladner Red Sox.
Midgets
The Ridge Meadows Royals midget triple A team ran its record to 7-4-1 with a pair of wins over the West Kelowna DBacks on Sunday at Hammond Stadium.
The Royals won the first game 12-0 and the second 8-1.
