FASTPITCH: Surrey Storm girls ‘B’ team raising money for rare trip to nationals

SURREY — Young fastpitch players in Surrey have been given the opportunity of a lifetime – but the girls need help to get there.

The Surrey Storm 2001B team is heading to the Western Championships in Winnipeg from Aug. 6 to 9. Because the Westerns only welcome two of the top teams in each province, most girls on the ‘B’ team will never get another opportunity to compete in the high-profile tournament. That’s why the Storm is working hard to ensure all 11 players get there.

With a goal of $16,500, or $1,500 per player, the team has set up a fundraising website.

Any donation will help (the team is even raising money using change jars), the Storm is really hoping to find corporate sponsors who are willing to step to the plate in a big way.

To help, please email the team’s fundraising co-ordinator at ballmom81@hotmail.ca or call 778-823-5233.
