Even though Fernie Martial Arts has only been operating since November they were able to compete with fighters who have been training for several years.
Ruth Ann Juneau, 8, was very impressive on the day, taking the provincial title in continuous fighting and also a second in point fighting in the under 30kg division beating a seasoned competitor in the final who was aged 10 and who has been competing for several years.
Also Emmanuel Juneau, Ronan La Fortune and Declan la Fortune all placed in the Provincial categories, at the same time taking home several swords in the intermediate sections.
Also in the beginner sections, first time competitors Zeth Ellis, Mikayla Clifford, Maria Juneau and Jonah Juneau all made it to the finals of the beginner fighting categories.
Fernie Martial Arts would like to thank its major Sponsors Teck and also East Kootenay Security Services for their contributions, making the event possible and allowing the competitors to take home some very impressive Samurai Swords.
