FHL – Paperback Writer

Catching up on the ice.

It’s hard to believe Serenity started off the season with a 1-3 record as their current fist full of win’s is making them look indestructible.

BCS would certainly vouch for that as their 10-2 whipping will definitely leave a mark.

Leading Serenity to the lop-sided victory was Wade (The Blade) Fenton who threw the Builders on his ample shoulders and scored four goals which included the first and tenth of the contest.

Also enjoying the goal parade was (Bad, Bad) Leroy Naeth who lit the lamp three times and added a trio of assists. Rounding out the multiple point earners was (Prince) George Paul and Eric (Frantic) Stanick who both deposited unassisted singletons into the yawning BCS cage to go with at least one assist.

The rather feeble push back from the BCS side will be a focus of discussion when their leader returns next week as allowing one third of your seasons goals against in a single morning should have the entire team skating Herbies.

The other contest was almost as cockeyed as the battle in the Barn as Fraser River unleashed its scoring touch on Bear in the 7-2 debacle.

The Chevy Crew was fuelled by the high octane game of (Iron) Mike Ingram who scored his first of the season and added an assist before the Kevin (Nightrider) Hesslegrave swarm enveloped the Bear defence.

(Nightriders) three goals in a row threw a wrench in Bear’s fleeting thoughts of redemption as (Sugar) Shane Baker also got into the act with a goal and two assists.

Cueing the unsuccessful comeback for Bear was Steve (Batman) Dodge who barely rippled the mesh from the slot and added an assist to give him his 36th goal and 299th point in his 20th FHL campaign.

Tied with (Batman) for the team lead in points the last two games is Brody (Good) Neighbour who collected two assists as George (Ironman) Ryan pounced on a rebound for his first goal in a half dozen contests.

This week in Season 18 (2011):

In Serenity’s 5-0 shutout of Blue Collar, the TSN turning point came early in the contest when BCS had a glorious chance to score on a power play that Mike (Mad-eye) Moody made a rapier like glove save; one that had BCS looking to the rafters for divine intervention.

Steve Dodge is a defensive winger with Bear Communications and an Observer contributor.
