The bid for a return to the B.C. championships begins here.
The defending provincial champion Cowichan Secondary Thunderbirds and the Frances Kelsey Breakers are playing host to the 2017 AAA Girls Field Hockey Island Championships at the Cowichan Sportsplex’s John Ferreira Field this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with berths at the provincial tournament on the line.
Shawnigan Lake School, Oak Bay and Mount Douglas will also be vying for spots at provincials.
Thursday featured Mount Doug vs. Kelsey, Oak Bay vs. Cowichan, and Mount Doug vs. Oak Bay.
Friday’s slate includes Oak Bay vs. Shawnigan at 9 a.m., Mount Doug vs. Cowichan at 10:30 a.m., Oak Bay vs. Kelsey at 1 p.m. and Mount Doug vs. Shawnigan at 2:30 p.m.
Three all-Valley games headline the schedule on Saturday: Cowichan vs. Kelsey at 9 a.m., Shawnigan vs. Kelsey at 12:30 p.m. and Cowichan vs. Shawnigan at 3:30 p.m.
