Championship Saturday is officially set for the APD City Basketball Tournament.
Games across all eight divisions in gyms all over Abbotsford opened on Tuesday and wrapped up on Thursday night.
The senior boys division will crown a new champion in 2019, as the Abbotsford Panthers and Yale Lions square off for the top prize.
The Panthers lost to the W.J. Mouat Hawks in last year’s senior boys final, and advanced to this year’s final with wins over the Abbotsford Christian School Knights on Tuesday (113-34) and the Hansen Hurricanes on Wednesday (101-60).
Yale opened with a 91-66 win on Tuesday over the Bateman Timberwolves and then eliminated the defending champion Hawks with an 87-54 victory on Wednesday.
The senior boys final is set for 8 p.m. at Columbia Bible College.
Yale and Abbotsford Senior also battle it out in the senior girls division final, which is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The Lions beat Hansen 93-15 on Tuesday and then defeated the Hawks 86-57 on Wednesday. Yale is looking to capture its third consecutive senior girls title at the event.

The Panthers’ path to the final saw them beat ACS 94-36 on Tuesday and then defeat the MEI Eagles 88-62 on Wednesday. Abbotsford last won the division back in 2016.
Other division final games set for Saturday are: MEI vs. Abby Senior (junior boys, 4 p.m.), Yale vs. Abby Senior (junior girls, 2:30 p.m.), MEI vs. Abbotsford Traditional (Grade 8 boys, 1 p.m.), St. John Brebeuf vs. W.A. Fraser (Grade 8 girls, 11:30 a.m.), Mouat vs. Yale (Grade 9 boys, 10 a.m.) and Hansen vs. Mouat/SJB (Grade 9 girls, 8:30 a.m.).
