Jim Finlayson was first across the finish line Sunday at the Comox Valley Road Runners’ annual half marathon.
Finlayson (Apex Runners) completed the out-and-back course from the Filberg Centre in Courtenay in 1:07.29.
That was a comfortable lead ahead of runner-up Bruce Deacon (Prairie Inn Harriers), who clocked in at 1:11.22.
The first CVRR runner was Vince Brotherston who finished ninth overall in 1:17.27.
The event is part of the Frontrunners Island Series. A strong turnout of runners enjoyed a relatively flat course that turned a little chilly around the mid-way point.
