Five gold for Spartan swimmer

Jessie Gibson added more medals to her collection, taking five firsts and a second at the PSW Invitation swim meet in Surrey.

Jessie Gibson and Colton Peterson led Chilliwack’s Spartan Swim Club into the PSW Invitational meet, held Oct. 19-20 in Surrey.

The Spartan contingent was 27 strong.

Gibson swam in the 15-and-over girls division, winning five races.

She was first in the 100 metre freestyle, fly and backstroke.

She topped the field in the 200m freestyle and individual medley, and finished second in the 50m freestyle.

Peterson raced in the 15-and-over boys division.

He scored silver in the 100m breaststroke and 200m freestyle and individual medley. Peterson was fourth in the 50m freestyle, fifth in the 100m freestyle and seventh in the 100m backstroke.

Angela Enciso (10-and-under girls) placed seventh in the 50m freestyle and eighth in the 100m backstroke and 200m freestyle.

Calvin Dumont-Belanger (10-and-under boys) swam to silver in the 200m freestyle. He was fourth in the 200m individual medley and 100m freestyle, breaststroke, fly and backstroke.

He was fifth in the 50m freestyle.

In the 11-12 year old girls division, Kara Wismer was seventh in the 100m backstroke. Brook Kienas (13-14 year old girls) placed fifth in the 200m freestyle, seventh in the 100m freestyle and eighth in the 200m individual medley.

In the same division, Jean Leslie finished third in the 100m backstroke.
