Flickers split but stay atop Division 1

The Flickers split their two games last week, but remain in first place in Div. 1 of the Vancouver Island Ladies Field Hockey Association.

The Cowichan Flickers split their two games last week, but remain in first place in Div. 1 of the Vancouver Island Ladies Field Hockey Association.

The Flickers doubled up Lynx I 4-2 in a midweek match last Wednesday, getting two goals from Teresa Gregus and one each from Hannah Craig and Sara Goodman.

The Flickers then suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday as they were beaten by the Mariners, this time ending up on the wrong side of a 4-2 tally. Goodman and Gregus had the goals in the loss.

The Flickers faced Lynx I again this Wednesday, and will host the same team at John Ferreira Field on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

In Div. 2, the Cowichan Cardinals beat Lynx II 4-2 at Ferreira Field on Saturday on two goals by Chloe Langkammer and one each by Jill Thompson and Serena Lockhart. The Cowichan Swifts were shut out in two games last weekend, falling 4-0 to the Sailors on Saturday and 1-0 to Lynx II on Sunday.

The Cardinals visit the Sailors this Saturday, while the Swifts have the weekend off.

In Div. 3, Hayley Picard and Sharyn Higginson scored as the Cowichan Kestrels beat the Rebels Renegades 2-1.

The Kestrels host Lynx III this Saturday at 11 a.m.
