There were a whole lot of Flippers in the chlorinated waters of Al Anderson Memorial Pool last weekend.

Of the 439 swimmers competing at the Langley Invitational Swim Meet, 71 were members of the host Langley Flippers.

Under a hot summer sun, the June 24 and 25 competition included eight clubs from around the Lower Mainland.

A highlight were the two full heats of parents swimming in the 4 x 25m (100m) freestyle relay. The parents dressed up in costumes, with their children and coaches cheering them on.

Meanwhile, among the Flippers competing over the weekend were siblings Rachel and Tiffany Hilland. The sisters make up a third of three generations of Lachance ladies who took part in the meet.

Their mom, Lindsay, participated in summer swimming with the Flippers from the ages of six to 16.

Both Lindsay and her mom (Rachel’s and Tiffany’s grandma), Donna, participate in the Langley Flippers Masters program.
