Many local players invited to provincial U18, U16 camps

Several local players have been invited by Football BC to attend a provincial camp in Richmond May 17-19.

The players selected to the camp were tested as part of the Football BC Combine Series which took place throughout January and February.

The May camp serves as the part of the process to select the players that will be on the provincial under-16 or under-18 teams.

Chosen to the under-18 camp were defensive backs Jonathan Chwaklinski of the Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers, Matthew Green of the Frank Hurt Hornets and Sam Malana of North Surrey Minor Football, linebacker Caleb Abraham of Lord Tweedsmuir, quarterback Colby Peters of North Surrey Minor Football, running backs David Haebeer of the North Surrey Bears and Truce Ighorew of the North Delta Longhorns, receivers Masaki Kawanami of the Seaquam Seahawks, Jerald Leonardo of the North Surrey Tigers, Mark Leonardo and Simon Odong of North Surrey Minor Football, and Spencer O’Brien of the White Rock Titans.

Defensive players invited to the under-16 camp include defensive backs Joel Klaassen of the North Surrey Tigers and Josiah Ordough of the Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers, defensive linemen Cole Barron of the Holy Cross Crusaders, Tighe Andreou of the White Rock Titans, Tayvion Johnson of the North Delta Longhorns and Jahnek Rai of the Seaquam Seahawks, and linebackers Cole Barron of Holy Cross and Justin Kular of the Tigers.

Offensive players receiving invitations were linemen Cole Irwin and Erich Poethke of Lord Tweedsmuir and Trevor Partington of Seaquam, quarterback Joshua Haydu of the North Delta Longhorns and Seaquam, running back Zander Bailey of North Surrey Minor Football, receiver Treven Baarts of Lord Tweedsmuir, Andy Hanlen of North Surrey Minor Football, and Denver Lebedow of Cloverdale Minor Football.
