Bear’s league-leading 10th victory of the season may have been its sweetest, as “King” Henry Boal scored the shootout clincher in a 4-3 victory over Fraser River.
Although the RPMs weren’t quite on the level as the Russian Rocket, the move was the same, as “King” Henry went stick to skate to stick before rifling it top shelf before a sell-out crowd.
Captain Chris “Crown” Royle also scored in extra time, as his earlier apple pushed his scoring streak to a not-too-shabby seven games. Also having a huge game for Bear was Mark “Billy” Bishop, who snuck a couple in shortside.
Having a three-point morning thanks to a goal and two assists for the candy stripers was Colin “Clutch” Keis, as he moved into third place in league scoring.
The Chevy Crew received quality outings from a trio of players, as Justin “Time” Rasmussen scored twice and assisted on Jason “Junior” Johnson’s mesh rippler, and Curtis “The Flash” Fenton dished out a couple of delicious saucers.
Meanwhile in the cozy confines of Rink 2, BCS finally got their act together early as they nursed a 4-zip first-half lead into a 4-2 win over Serenity.
After Cam “Shaft” Graham had beaten the Serenity ‘tender like a rented mule on an end-to-end marker to open up the scoring, BCS received some much-needed secondary goal scoring. With Jim “Soupy” Sales setting up a trio of tallies, Derek “Bye Bye” Burdekin sniped his second of the season before “The Great” Nate Strand pocketed a pair of wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am rebound tallies.
Making a game of it late for Serenity were the two FHL players who still get ID’d as new recruit. Josh “Jack” Daniels and Darby “Dangle” Madill played give and go, as they both scored and assisted on each other’s goals in the losing cause.
