Bear claims first place with 3-2 win over BCS, while Serenity falls 7-3 to Fraser River

The frigid temperatures have obviously left the Bear Boys in a grumpy mood so their 3-2 win over BCS, that gives them a share of first place, might keep them happy until spring.

With exactly the same record as Serenity at 13-7-2, Bear is technically on top as their goal differential is three better than the Builders’.

Bear was actually feeling a little dopey during most of the contest, but with the game on the line Kris “Haymaker” Hayman scored his second of the contest with only six seconds left on the clock to avoid extra shots.

Also having a dominant game was Bear’s Jason “Firecracker” Forman who scored a singleton and had two awesome assists.

BCS was looking to extend their winning streak to two and deserved a better fate as they outplayed Bear for the majority of the game.

Scoring pretty goals for Blue Collar were two of their go-to guys as Matt “The Punisher” Powell rifled in a howitzer before Jim “Soupy” Sales opened up a can of chicken noodle to score five hole.

The contest in the Roo Rink saw the Chevy Crew hit the ice red-lining as they swarmed the Serenity end of the ice for most of the game.

The rope a dope effort by Serenity didn’t last as Levon “Young Gun” Johnson’s final four goals made the final 7-3 Fraser River.

The other half of the Johnson and Johnson juggernaut wasn’t that shabby himself as Jason “Junior” Johnson delivered a quartet of silky assists.

Opening up the scoring for the double blue was “Super” Dave Penner on a gorgeous move and Fouad “Frankie” Obeid notched his second of the season.

For the stale Serenity side, who have now had their FHL penthouse invaded by Bear, they did have a couple things to cheer for as a player not to named was actually on the ice for their final goal which improved his plus/minus to an acceptable minus six.
