FORESTRY HOCKEY LEAGUE: White ties Red, Green snips Black

With spring break upon us, it was time for White to call in the replacement players and with a band of old timers they managed to squash Red’s first place aspirations with a 5-5draw.

Kevin “Don’t call him David” Hesselgrave, fresh off a Baywatch re-union tour, scored twice and assisted on another.

Dale “Carnegie” Bubela once again showed his leadership attitude with two assists for White.

Dave “Chainsaw” McCulloch pitched in with his first of the season on a laser guided dribbler and then missed a chance at an empty net by four feet with time elapsing.

Doing his best to keep Redès remarkable run going was Ian “The Hammer” Hannah who scored twice and added two assists to give him the FHL scoring title in a landslide, thanks to his remarkable 29 point output since Christmas.

A goal and an assist by “Sugar” Shane Baker and a pair of helpers from Greg “Great” Scott is proof the Red squad will be hard to beat during this week’s playoffs.

The other contest saw Green edge Black by a 5-4 margin to set the stage for the rematch contests next week as the league-leading Black squad gets two shots at the cellar-dwelling Green side.

Anything that has inhabited the cellar this long must be feared and Green just may have dusted off the cobwebs and rotting vegetables just in time to go on a post-season run.

Showing no ill effects from his 14-hour flight from the land down under was Chris “Bob really is

his uncle” Royle who scored twice and added one assist.

Scoring the winner on an end-to-end rush, interrupted by not one but two Savardian spin-a-rama moves, was Scott “Whirling Dervish” Davis.

The angel of the morning for Black was Mike “Juice” Legere who scored once and added an assist as he hasn’t missed a beat since his return to the squad a month ago.
