It didn’t take long for former Trail Smoke Eaters goalie Tanner Marshall to make an impact with his new team.
Marshall was named Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after registering two shutouts and three wins in his first three games with the Brooks Bandits.
The Smoke Eaters traded Marshall to the Bandits after the 18-year-old Kelowna native requested a trade, with hopes of seeing more action between the pipes.
Marshall stopped all 25 shots he faced in his first game in a Bandits uniform in a 4-0 road win over the Calgary Mustangs on Dec. 4. He posted his second consecutive shutout and continued his perfect record with his new team, as the Bandits recorded a 6-0 win over the visiting Calgary Canucks the next night. The week ended with Marshall making 13 saves in a 5-2 win in a rematch with the Cancuks on Saturday to push his record to 3-0.
