Chilliwack’s U-12 Silver Striker boys made it two wins in a row in Cup play Saturday, taking a 4-1 decision over Langley.
David Mackay got his team off to a good start, nailing a strike from 20 yards out to open the scoring.
Winger Sukhjit Uppal did some great work to set up the second Chilliwack goal, scored by striker Tyler Smith.
Langley cut the lead in half, briefly, when a shot rainbowed over the head of keeper Jackson Gardner.
But the locals came right back on a goal by Jacob Bockhodt, who left-footed a rocket from just inside the penalty box.
With Gardner stopping everything in net and Matvij Hnatiw marshalling the defence, Chilliwack shut Langley down in the second half.
Mackay’s second of the game wrapped up the scoring.
Chilliwack went winless from September through December, but their fortunates have turned in 2012.
The win over Langley, combined with a previous win over Surrey, puts the Strikers in a strong position to make the Group E finals.
